It is a difficult time for a lot of people, businesses, and the nation as a whole as the Corona Virus wreaks its havoc. But the main thing is seeing people pull together and support each other, which more than outweighs any selfishness.
As a sole trader I have been speaking to fellow traders, and it is tough with a lot of us seeing business cease and worrying times lie ahead. What has helped is talking to people, so that you know you are not alone.
Running a consultancy, with an emphasis on head hunting is challenging to say the least. Hiring is on hold, and people (quite rightly) are staying put as they weather out the storm.
It is still business as usual at Found Us, and don’t hesitate to call for advice, a natter, or anything else.
The main thing is to not give up hope, and to remember this situation will change. Also, don’t hesitate to ask for help. You will be surprised who rises to the occasion in a crisis. Sole traders have a tough time running a business as a solo operator, and stress levels will certainly have risen at the moment. You worry about your business, your money and income, whilst being isolated from people.
Keep yourself busy where you can, and maybe look at admin tasks or overdue work – that way you feel you are doing something.
Reading could also be another option for you. Self-improvement literature, or learning more about your business.
Don’t forget the phone, Skype, Zoom and the like. Make sure you talk to people.
Alternately, put work on hold to avoid the stress, and do non-work stuff. Watch that film you’ve always wanted to see, read that book, attack the garden. The main thing being distraction.
I’m probably stating the obvious, but in finishing Claire, myself, and Chairman Ted hope you are all safe and well.
